Life at The Meadows

The Meadows Nursing FacilityThe Meadows seeks to enhance the lives of all our residents. A beautiful facility, tranquil surroundings, quality medical care, social services and fun activities are all part of the package.

Each of the four "neighborhoods," or halls, has its own personality. These include Magnolia Lane, Bluebonnet Ridge, Sunflower Field and Country Corner. Semi-private and private rooms are available, each tastefully decorated. Each resident has their own window and closet. You may view the floor plans here.

Nursing

The Meadows Nursing FacilityOur staff of nurses and aides is led by Patti Robbins, RN, the director of nurses. Each of the three units also has an administrative nurse who helps coordinate each resident's care. Certified nurse aides provide assistance with daily tasks and certified medication aides administer the residents' medicine.

 Social Services

Social services are provided to residents by the full-time social worker, Kinney Robinson,  LBSW. He visits residents to address psychosocial needs and facilitate adjustment to the new residence. He can also make referrals for needed services and help resolve complaints or requests.

 Activities

The Meadows Nursing FacilityActivities are offered daily to invite social interaction and keep our residents entertained and active. These can include Bingo, musical performances, worship services, holiday celebrations, crafts, exercise, ice cream socials, and trivia time. See a sample activity calendar.

Residents are also encouraged to bring any hobby they enjoyed at home with them to their new residence. With some modifications, many activities can be continued as we age. If there is any particular activity or event a resident would like to have, please contact our activity director Kami Sibley at (254) 404-2532.

Pets

The Meadows Nursing Facility"Pets are an important part of many people's lives before they enter a nursing home. Their presence has been shown to lower blood pressure and rates of depression.  At The Meadows, we try to encourage residents to continue their connection to their pets.  Beloved pets are welcome to visit, provided they are current on their shots and are kept under control while in the facility.

The Memory Care Unit has a pet-in-residence of its own.  Snuggles the dog is a peaceful companion to the resdients in that area and enlivens the day of the residents who choose to interact with her.
